Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings Outstanding audio quality and exclusive design

With the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings label the orchestra took its recording activities into its own hands. Recordings of the highest quality, which reflect the orchestra’s unique sound in every respect, are produced under the overall control of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

The focus is on the highlights of the concert programme of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The orchestra’s discography with chief conductor Kirill Petrenko began with releases on the label. In addition, there are selected recordings from the archives of the Digital Concert Hall, which has provided the orchestra with a global digital stage since 2008. Major cycles of orchestral music, such as the symphonies of Beethoven, Schubert, Mahler and Sibelius, are presented. A historical series, beginning with an edition devoted to Wilhelm Furtwängler, offers a broader view of the long history of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

All releases are state of the art. Audio recordings are usually accompanied by a Blu-ray with an associated video recording and exclusive bonus videos. The recordings can also be heard in the high-resolution audio format for maximum hi-fi enjoyment. Vinyl fans will be delighted by the editions produced in the direct-to-disc process – the ultimate in analog recording quality.

The aesthetic quality of the hardcover editions is no less lavish. Each recording is released in an exclusive design with an extensive booklet. The visual imagery of the layout is developed in cooperation with well-known artists such as Rosemarie Trockel and Wolfgang Tillmans. Thus, the releases on the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings label – sought-after collector’s items – offer a comprehensive multimedia musical experience.
