Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Dvořák’s Violin Concerto Manfred Honeck conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker

Available versions

Guest appearances by Anne-Sophie Mutter with the Berliner Philharmoniker are still a special event today. After all, there is no other musician of our time whose career has been so closely linked with the orchestra. After three long decades, a joint recording is once again being released: Antonín Dvořák’s Violin Concerto, coupled with the Romance in F minor and two further Dvořák encores. The conductor is Manfred Honeck.

As an exclusive offer for our customers, this product includes a 48-Hour Ticket for the Digital Concert Hall.

Anne-Sophie Mutter has been playing the Dvořák Concerto for decades – and in the run-up to the recording, she re-examined the work from scratch: “I studied the orchestral score again and revised almost everything I had been doing until then: the fingering, the bowing and the phrasing.” As a result, the violinist presents an interpretation of striking freshness and indescribable beauty which never aims at superficial brilliance.

Playing together with the orchestra also brought about exactly the temperament and the voluptuous passion that Dvořák's music requires of the artist. Or, as Anne-Sophie Mutter herself said, “With the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra and Manfred Honeck, an excitement was created that pushed, stimulated and inspired us all.”

The DVD contains Anne-Sophie Mutter's live apperance at the Berlin Philharmonie, which can also be seen online in the Digital Concert Hall. For the full-length video, please click here.
